The Scout Hut

The Scout Group is in the final phase of rebuilding it’s Scout Hut. We are now able to use the main hall, toilets, store and temporary kitchen/craft room when covid-19 conditions allow. The new kitchen remains a construction site and so is off-limits at present. The grounds also await landscaping. Beaver, Cub and Scout meetings are able to use the hut or grounds. We are also happy to consider requests from others to use the hut for a one-off or regular event (subject to our conditions of hire).

Plans for the new building

Location

The Hut can be found on the left hand side at the end of Guessburn in Stocksfield – Guessburn is the road opposite the railway station. The hut sits back from the road behind some houses and is next to Stocksfield Tennis Club. A location map and the full postal address is shown at the foot of every page.

Facilities

The new hut sits on a bend in the river, surrounded by grass and trees. It has a large central hall, two meeting rooms, a kitchen, a craft room, toilets and a shower. There is also an external equipment store. The building is centrally heated and designed to be fully accessible. There is ramp access, wide doorways and a disabled toilet. There is a 2 metre high wire fence around the site.

Parking by the hut is reserved for leaders and members with particular access requirements.  We would appreciate it if other visitors walked, cycled or travelled by train to the hut. If you are arriving by car, be warned that spaces are limited – please park considerately on the main road.
