Remembrance Sunday 2014

Wreath of Poppies

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and leaders will be joining in the annual Remembrance Sunday celebration on November the 9th, marching in uniform from Stocksfield Station to the War Memorial. Parents are very welcome too! Please wear poppies if you have them.

We will meet in the Railway Station Car Park at 10.30 am, dressed ready to walk to the memorial. We should be back at the car park by about 11.30 am, with refreshments served afterwards at the community centre (SICA).

We hope for an especially large turnout given that this year will mark 100 years since the start of the First World War.

Bring a Parent Night

Cooking over wood

There was a great turn out at the Cubs ‘Bring a Parent Night’. The visitors were treated to displays of backwoods skills, fed home made soup with bread twists and entertained with traditional camp fire sketches.

Thanks to Tony Winters for the pictures.

The Hardest Questions

Planning

In the third of our section briefings, tonight we spoke to the Cubs and their parents. Thankfully this time we were spared heavy rain.

We answered a range of questions about our plans for the hut and the surrounding land – parents were keen to ensure that we had undertaken suitable environmental surveys to ascertain the flood risk. Perhaps the trickiest questions came from the Cubs who wanted to know every last detail of the construction!

Scout Post 2013

Scout Post franked mail

Local residents can use Scout Post to have cards delivered to addresses in Broomley, Hedley, Mickley and Stocksfield (with a NE43 postcode). Cards should be placed into the special Scout Postboxes located in the two Post Offices in Stocksfield. The final date for posting is 12 noon on the 21st of December. All we ask is a minimum donation of 20p per card.

The cards are then delivered by members of the Scout Group. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts can collect their allotted cards from Philippa’s house between 3pm and 7pm each Friday.

Remembrance Service 2013
