This weekend we have two patrols competing in the District “Back to Basics” camping competition. This year’s event has a farming theme, so our patrols have adopted agricultural names: the Muck Spreaders and the Midden.
Good luck to them both!

I’m pleased to say that the latest Annual Report is now available.
Find out what the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have been up to this last year!

Thanks to Bob Reay for the photo
This weekend the Scouts were in Hexham, testing out the new climbing wall.
What a great use of a wall!

Local residents can use Scout Post to have cards delivered to addresses in Broomley, Hedley, Mickley and Stocksfield (with a NE43 postcode). Cards should be placed into the special Scout Postboxes located in the two Post Offices in Stocksfield and we ask for a minimum donation of 20p per card. Collections start on the 1st of December. The final date for posting is 12 noon on the 19th of December.
The cards are delivered by members of the Scout Group. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts can collect their allotted cards from Philippa’s house (25 Cade Hill Road) between 3pm and 7pm each Friday.
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and leaders will be joining in the annual Remembrance Sunday celebration on November the 9th, marching in uniform from Stocksfield Station to the War Memorial. Parents are very welcome too! Please wear poppies if you have them.
We will meet in the Railway Station Car Park at 10.30 am, dressed ready to walk to the memorial. We should be back at the car park by about 11.30 am, with refreshments served afterwards at the community centre (SICA).
We hope for an especially large turnout given that this year will mark 100 years since the start of the First World War.
We are delighted that Bob Hubbuck has agreed to carry on leading Scouts – at least for the moment. We need more adult leaders – if you can help at all, please get in touch with Bob or Malcolm.
Bob is trying to resurrect a Scout troop at Haltwhistle (you may have read about this in the Hexham Courant) so he needs to change the day of the troop night at Stocksfield. From now on Scouts will meet on a Thursday night at 7.30 pm. The first meeting of the new term begins on the 18th of September.

The AGM will now be held at the Scout Hut in Guessburn on Wednesday the 17th September, starting at 7.30 pm.
All members of the Scout Group and their parents are very welcome.
Despite heavy rain, there was a good turnout of Scout parents last night, as we shared our plans for the new hut. We also got a few more volunteers for the fundraising committee
Cubs on Monday…
